So British Prime Minister Gordon Brown visits Barack Obama at the White House bearing gifts. He presents President Barack Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the wood of the anti-slave ship HMS Gannet, a framed commission for HMS Resolute (The British ship HMS Resolute was abandoned in the Arctic. The Americans found it and returned it to England around 1856) and a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown also gave gifts to the Obama children consisting of some outfits and some children’s books from some British authors.
Now in return President Barack Obama gave a couple of models of Marine One (The Presidential Chopper) and a……now get this…..A boxed 25 DVD set of American Movies! Now all I can say is REGIFT! I really hope the plastic wrap was still intact!
On another note, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a makeshift “RESET” button to symbolize resetting US Russia relations. Apparently the button said RESET in both English and Russian but, Opps, they got the Russian translation wrong, it actually said “overcharge” not reset. Also when I first saw the video clip on the news the so called reset button looked more like a missile launch button! You just can’t make this stuff up!

I totally sympathize with Secretary Clinton; I made a similar mistake due to language and cultural barriers with a new neighbor last summer. . .
